Week 24 – Awesome Testimony

We often say that our spouses know us better than anyone else. They
know those annoying habits we have, yet love us anyway. We also tell
best friends intimate details about ourselves, sharing advice back and
forth. But there are usually deep, dark secrets about ourselves that
we don’t share with anyone. Sometimes we even manage to hide them
from ourselves.

This is what my husband and I were confronted with this Sabbath. We
watched the testimony of an African pastor that was so hard hitting, I
was in tears. He shared how he was harboring secret sins deep inside
himself. He said that they were holding him captive without realizing
it.

He shares how he came to understand that he switched from working for
God’s approval to working for man’s approval. He says, “Men don’t
know the secrets of your heart so they keep approving you. But God
knows the secrets of your heart.” It left me asking, “What is holding
me captive? Am I working for the approval of man or God? What am I
unwilling to admit about myself and turn over to God?”

I can be doing all of the “right” things and have all the appearance
of good on the outside. But it comes to nothing if my heart does not
belong to God in EVERY way.

This testimony is too good not to share, so I am linking it here for
you. It is an hour and a half, but well worth your time! If you get
a chance to watch, please share your thoughts here this week.

Until next week,
Lisa G.
