Comment on Week 11 – Turning Point by slance http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/the-sabbath-challenge-week-11-turning-point/#comment-92 slance Sat, 04 Aug 2012 20:04:15 +0000 http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/?p=53#comment-92 I would love to be a participate in this blog. I have had 20 years of history in the church, home churches, bible studies, and am raising 9 children for the Lord. My wife and I are followers of the Whole bible, not just the new testament. My belief is that we have confused what the new testament is and why there was a change in the covenant. We just can’t start quoting bible verses from the new testament without understanding the foundation of the scriptures. I would say about 60 to 65 percent of the new testament is just quotes from the old testament.. And if there is one page I would ripe out of the bible it would be the blank page in between. We all need to be humble and do our best and walk in righteousness. First, I would like to pose the question of why we had a change in the covenant and needed a savior? Was there a need for a blood sacrifice. People always talk about being in the spirit and walking in the spirit, not the law. Do we understand what Jesus was. John 1:14, Jesus is the law. His spirit has always been with his children, read the Psalms. Being in the spirit does not mean you are always going to Obey God. My scripture says to Hear and Obey. The spirit should convict you when you disobey his word. But, you obviously still have a free will to choose. His law and covenants were given to anyone which wants to follow and obey his entire word. Remember Jesus says in Matthew 15:24 he came only for the lot sheep of Israel.

Comment on Week 1 – List Of 33 Sabbath Activities by Dodi Gonzalez-Reynolds http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/sabbath-activities/#comment-219 Dodi Gonzalez-Reynolds Mon, 09 Jul 2012 15:35:15 +0000 http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/?p=63#comment-219 Thank you so much for sharing! I love teaching the Kids that sometimes life is not fun! I am implementing that next Shabbat! While my husband does not forbid, he can NOT sit and is out and about caring for our property, but he will sit and do torah study before he goes. So it is hard to get my son to totally observe as well. But my daughter and I are all on board and we will study together!Thank you for all of these ideas! I so appreciate them!Blessings in Yeshua! Comment on Week 44 – The Devil and The Angel by Deborah http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/the-devil-and-the-angel/#comment-3 Deborah Mon, 25 Jun 2012 18:03:01 +0000 http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/?p=21#comment-3 Mulling over the concept of struggling to “keep” the Sabbath, and it made me wonder… why do we use words like “DELIGHT” yourself in the Lord… “DELIGHT” yourself in His Shabbat… but then find ourselves wrestling with thoughts of denying ourselves to spend time with Him? I have to wonder if we are truly convinced in our hearts that He has our best interests at heart, that He truly does know what brings us deepest joy. So we use words like “you can’t always have fun in life” (which, by the way IS true), but in our minds, doesn’t that whisper that God is a killjoy? I dunno… still noodling this out myself. But I guess my other question is, what do we find ourselves “DOING” in order the keep the Sabbath, and what does God really want from us? The DOING, or the RESTING IN HIM… FINDING JOY… BEING STILL AND KNOWING HE IS GOD… For me, it’s too easy to get caught up in my checklist of this is what I have to do, and this is how it is supposed to look, instead of just living my life, listening to HIM and watching/waiting for His presence. Think of how much joy we could find in Shabbat if we made it like a treasure hunt!

Comment on Week 32 – Sabbath Prayer by mbfromok http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/the-sabbath-challenge-week-32-sabbath-prayer/#comment-8 mbfromok Wed, 30 May 2012 08:56:44 +0000 http://www.thesabbathchallenge.com/?p=33#comment-8 I have gotten so far behind in reading your posts that I am just now catching up with the last several weeks, having missed probably the last 20.. Sorry this is so delayed!I was Baptist when I was young, but then God arranged things so that we would move from there to other places in pursuit of him and the unbiased and unfiltered truth of his word. Eventually my family (Dad, Mom, & Siblings) would go to a Seventh Day church and then from there moved on to a Bible Study that later grew into what most people would call a Messianic church (Followers of Christ who keep the “Jewish” biblical feasts as a sign of their faith). All that to tell you that we started having a Friday night Erev Shabbat (eh-rev shuh-bought) or Sabbath Evening dinner to start the separation between the Sabbath and the rest of the week. Every week we would light 2 candles (one as a picture of Eve (Sin) and one as a picture of Mary (redemption) ), Break bread & drink grape juice, then eat a nice dinner with the “special” plates. After the dinner we would gather under a “Jewish” prayer shawl (a picture of the Holy Spirit hovering over our lives & the wedding canopy we will join our Messiah under); Dad would lay his hands on our head/shoulder & recite a blessing over his bride (holding her hand instead), his sons, and his daughters. The dinner was concluded with Numbers 6:24-26. That entire meal is something I treasure, but the blessings are one of my most cherished memories from Sabbath growing up and it is something I plan to do with my family for the rest of my days =)The Blessings we used:Blessing of the Wife/Mother: Proverbs 31:10-31Blessing for the Sons: May God Make you like Ephraim & ManassehBlessing for the Daughters: May God make you like Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel & Leah.Numbers 6:24-2624 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

The bible is very clear. When people try to retain old ways (Jews, sdas, Mormons, Catholics and jw's to name a few) or focus on one part of the scripture,  they start to mickey mouse scripture to have their way. I am opposed to anyone who is opposed to letting the New Covenant stand on it's own as it was intended.,
